The Tokyo 2020 Olympic champions, Mol and Sørum are set to play in the semifinals of a Beach Pro Tour Elite event for an impressive 23rd straight time on Sunday. The Beach Volley Vikings have last missed the semifinals of an Elite event in August 2022, when they forfeited all three matches in Hamburg, finishing 13th. They won 11 golds, four silvers, six bronzes, and got two fourths in the period.

On Saturday, the Norwegians dropped their first sets at the iconic Lower Vítkovice industrial heritage site, where they already won three times, but continued undefeated and made it to the semifinals.

Beach Pro Tour Ostrava Elite – Match Schedule and Results

Mol and Sørum played two American teams in the elimination rounds on Saturday and overcame both of them in the tie-breaker, beating Chaim Schalk and James Shaw 2-1 (19-21, 21-18, 15-13) in the Round of 12 and topping Andy Benesh and Miles Partain also in three sets (21-17, 16-21, 15-12) in the quarterfinals.

Their opponents in the semifinals, world champions Perušič and Schweiner return to the semifinals in Ostrava after finishing ninth last year and will have another shot at winning their home tournament – they got into the Final Four in the five seasons prior, getting three silver medals and finishing fourth twice.

Their days in Ostrava had a pair of convincing victories as the Czechs topped the German Sagstetter brothers Jonas and Benedikt 2-0 (21-17, 21-18) in the Round of 12 and downed Qatari Olympic medalists Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan also in two sets (21-18, 21-14) in the quarterfinals.

Olympic champions keep winning

Still looking for their first Beach Pro Tour victory in 2025, Olympic champions Åhman and Hellvig had a smooth day in Ostrava, finding their way to the semifinals with a pair of sweeps. The Swedish got the better of Austrians Julian Hörl and Moritz Pristauz in the Round of 12, winning in straight sets (21-12, 21-17), and entirely dominated the reigning European champions Martins Plavins and Kristians Fokerots of Latvia in the quarterfinals, winning 2-0 (21-7, 21-12).

Bryl and Łosiak, who are yet to drop a set in the Czech event, also had a pair of solid wins on Saturday, taking Americans Benesh and Partain down with a sweep (22-20, 21-13) in the Round of 12 and following it up with a two-set (21-10, 21-16) victory over Jonas and Benedikt Sagstetter in the quarterfinals.
