Coming from three straight semifinal appearances on the Beach Pro Tour 2025, Bryl and Łosiak had a dominant performance in their opening match in Montréal, taking down Germans Paul Henning and Lui Wüst in straight sets (21-11, 21-11).

Their second match of the day, which ended up serving as the pool final, also had the Polish in top form, as they topped Australian Olympians Izar Carracher and Mark Nicolaidis also in two sets (21-14, 21-17).

Bryl and Łosiak are scheduled to face Qatari Olympic medalists Ahmed Tijan and Cherif Younousse in their third and last Pool C match on Friday, but the Asians were forced to withdraw from the tournament due to an injury sustained by Ahmed and will forfeit the encounter, as they did with their matches against Germans and Australians on Thursday. With that, Henning/Wüst and Carracher/Nicoilaidis are both guaranteed in the Round of 12, but will play to determine second and third place in the pool.

Mol and Sørum win two tie-breakers

The winners of the 2023 Beach Pro Tour Elite event in Montréal, Norwegian stars Anders Mol and Christian Sørum also won a pair of pool matches on Thursday in their return to the Canadian city, but their day was nothing like the one of the Polish as they were pushed to three sets twice.

The Beach Volley Vikings made their debut against the Chilean Grimalt cousins Marco and Esteban, and came back after dropping the first set to win 2-1 (17-21, 22-20, 15-10). A few hours later, they followed the same script to take down Swiss Marco Krattiger and Leo Dillier, also in the tie-breaker (21-23, 21-19, 24-22), in a nail-biter, and confirm their presence in the elimination rounds.

The other two Pool A matches held on Thursday had the Grimalts beating the Capogrosso brothers Nicolas and Tomas 2-0 (21-17, 21-17) and the Argentineans sweeping (21-15, 21-16) the Swiss. On Friday, Mol and Sørum will play the Capogrossos to finish first in the pool while Krattiger and Dillier face the Grimalts in what could be a win-or-go-home match.

Pool B, on the other hand, had only two matches held on Thursday and both had Swedish teams triumphing as reigning Olympic champions David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig swept (21-16, 21-16) Germans Sven Winter and Lukas Pfretzschner while Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson took down the English Bello twins Javier and Joaquin also in two sets (21-14, 21-14).

Pool D got started with reigning world champions Ondřej Perušič and David Schweiner of Czechia earning a two-set (21-15, 21-17) victory over Canadians Sam Schachter and Jonathan Pickett and Americans Miles Partain and Andy Benesh, who took silver in Montréal two years ago, prevailing over Brazilian Olympians Evandro Gonçalves and Arthur Lanci in the tie-breaker (19-21, 21-19, 16-14).
