Elite16 - Montreal, CAN - 2025 - Beach Pro Tour 2025 season - News

Melissa/Brandie (CAN) vs. Müller/Tillmann (GER) - Final 1st Place #55498119

The Canadians went undefeated in front of their home fans this week

Montréal continues to be a fortress for Brandie Wilkerson and Melissa Humana-Paredes on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour, as two years after triumphing in front of their home fans in the city, the Canadians did it again on Sunday, coming out on top in the Elite event held at the Parc Jean-Drapeau.

Their victory concluded what has been an exciting week for the Olympic medalists in Montréal, where they got to play in front of 3,500 home fans over the weekend. On Sunday, Brandie and Melissa made it to the podium alongside Germans Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann, who took silver, and Brazilians Eduarda ‘Duda’ Lisboa and Ana Patrícia Ramos, who got bronze.

Dominant throughout the entire week in Montréal, the Canadians didn’t slow down in the gold medal match and topped Müller and Tillmann 2-0 (21-15, 22-20) after controlling the first set from start to finish and producing a strong comeback to take the second.

“Our team is putting a lot of work into the first half of this season,” Melissa reflected. “A lot of that is on defense, as it’s one of our strengths, but we have been working on all areas of our game. There’s a lot of freedom in our defensive game. And the fans helped us so much.”

With the victory, the Canadians returned to the top of the podium on the Beach Pro Tour after two years, as their most recent victory as partners had happened exactly in Montréal in 2023. In 2025, the two had played in four Beach Pro Tour stops before the Montréal event, finishing fifth in three of them.

“To be able to come on the court and feel so much love and support, it’s really every athlete’s dream,” Brandie added. “It was such a special and incredible week. We did it!”

Olympic champions return to action with a medal

Away from the Beach Pro Tour for the last four months, Olympic champions Duda and Ana Patrícia returned to the sand and earned a spot on the podium in Montréal after they dominated Latvian Olympians Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova to a straight-set (21-14, 21-16) victory in the bronze medal match.

“I’m very happy that we’re back on Tour,” Ana Patrícia reflected. “I sustained a significant injury three months and we were finally able to return now. It was great to do it here in Canada as the fans created an incredible atmosphere.”

By taking bronze in Canada, the Brazilians got to return to the Beach Pro Tour with the same result they had in the last tournament before their forced break, in Brasília, while earning their second medal in four events this season.

Germany will be the next country to host a Beach Pro Tour Elite event in the 2025 season, as the city of Hamburg will host a tournament later this month, from August 27-31.
