It was the second victory of the Olympic champions over their compatriots in less than two months.

Earlier, in the second round, the reigning Olympic champions had swept (21-17, 21-16) the English Bello twins, while Hölting Nilsson and Andersson downed Germans Sven Winter and Lukas Pfretzschner in the tie-breaker (18-21, 21-14, 18-16).
