Brazilian Olympians Carol Salgado and Rebecca Cavalcanti ended the 2025 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour season on a high, winning gold at this week's 1xBet Itapema Elite, the last tournament of the event's highest level, and celebrating in front of their home fans.

The 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship bronze medalists were the best among the four Brazilian teams that got to compete on Sunday at the Meia Praia Beach and topped the podium in Itapema, flanked by second-placed Talita Antunes/Taiana Lima and third-placed Thâmela Coradello/Victoria Lopes.

Two weeks after taking bronze at the World Championship in Adelaide, Carol and Rebecca won their third title in their first season as partners on the Beach Pro Tour, following victories in the Elite tournaments held in Quintana Roo and Rio de Janeiro - they also earned silver in Brasília.

The Brazilians were upset by Lithuanians Erika Kliokmanaite and Ieva Vasiliauskaite in their first pool play match in Itapema, but then found their best rhythm and got six sweeps, winning 12 consecutive sets to celebrate the title in front of their home fans. In the gold medal match, they dominated veterans Talita and Taiana to triumph 2-0 (21-10, 21-10).

"We needed to be resilient this week," Carol said. "We lost our first match and had to deal with many different feelings. We wanted to end the season with a victory here, and I'm very proud of my first season with Rebecca. Now we want to get some rest to come back stronger in 2026."

In Itapema, the 43-year-old Talita and the 41-year-old Taiana won their first medal of the season and returned to the podium on the Beach Pro Tour after just over 13 months - they were second in João Pessoa in October 2024.

Thâmela and Victoria completed the all-Brazilian podium in Itapema by defeating compatriots Thainara Oliveira and Talita Simonetti in straight sets (21-16, 21-8) in the bronze medal matches. The two won their fifth medal of the season, adding to golds in Saquarema and Ostrava and silvers in Hamburg and Rio de Janeiro.

The 1xBet Itapema Elite marked the fifth time that three teams from the same country made it to the podium on the Beach Pro Tour in 2025, and just the second time that it has ever happened in an Elite event, repeating the 2022 tournament held in Uberlândia, which also featured Brazilian duos winning all medals.

The 1xBet Itapema Elite was the last event of this level in the 2025 Beach Pro Tour schedule. The season will officially come to an end after the conclusion of the Laginha Beach Futures, in Cape Verde, from December 11-14.
