Fresh from having triumphed in the Montréal Elite two weeks ago, Norwegian superstars Anders Mol and Christian Sørum of Norway will be back in town determined to defend the title they won in Hamburg in 2024. The Beach Volley Vikings also stepped on the top of the podium in the city in 2018, when they won the FIVB World Tour Finals.

Swedish David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig of Sweden, who preceded the Norwegians as the Hamburg Elite champions, having triumphed in the city in 2023, are also set to contend this week. The reigning Olympic champions won two medals already in 2025, but are coming from three-straight fourth-place finishes and will be eager to return to the podium in a familiar location.

Polish Olympians Michal Bryl and Bartosz Łosiak complete the list of past winners returning to Hamburg this week on the men’s side. The Europeans took gold in Germany back in 2022, in what was their last victory on the Beach Pro Tour. In 2025, the two have six tournaments completed and one medal won – they took silver in their home tournament, the Stare Jablonki Challenge.

Beach Pro Tour Hamburg Elite – Men’s Entry List

Other men’s teams that made it to the podium in Hamburg in past seasons will also return to the Am Rothenbaum Stadium this week, most notably home heroes and Paris Olympic silver medalists Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler, who earned bronze in 2022, and Dutch Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Grook, who got the same result in 2024.

In the women’s event, reigning Olympic champions Eduarda ‘Duda’ Lisboa and Ana Patrícia Ramos of Brazil are back in Hamburg two years after they topped the podium in the city in 2023 – Duda also won gold in Hamburg in 2018, during the World Tour Finals, with Ágatha Bednarczuk. Dealing with some injuries this season, the Brazilians have played in only four Beach Pro Tour events, but they get to Germany coming from back-to-back bronzes, earned in Brasília and Montréal.

While last year’s champions Nina Brunner and Tanja Hüberli won’t be back to defend their title, the two teams that flanked them on the podium will. They are the home team of Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillman, who earned silver in 2024 and bronze the year before, and Brazilians Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes, who finished third last season.
