Five months after hosting a Futures event, Nuvali is back on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour calendar this week, but the stakes will be higher this time, with the city hosting a Challenge tournament.

Reuniting teams from all over the world, the seventh and last Challenge event of the 2025 season will be held between Wednesday and Sunday at the sand courts at Ayala Land.

This will be the third-straight year in which Nuvali hosts a Beach Pro Tour Challenge event. Just like this year, in 2024, the Filipino city also held a Futures tournament earlier in the season.

The men's event will have a strong and experienced field, featuring as many as nine Olympians. The list begins with Spanish Adrián Gavira, who represented his country at three editions of the Games with longtime partner Pablo Herrera and is now in his first season with Alejandro Huerta.

Italy have three Olympians set to compete in Nuvali, all entered with different partners - Alex Ranghieri is paired with Manuel Alfieri, Enrico Rossi is set to play with Marco Viscovich and Samuele Cottafava will have Gianluca Dal Corso by his side.

Australian Thomas Hodges, who will play with Paul Burnett, completes the list.

On the women's side, three Olympians are entered, and the most accomplished of them is Australian Taliqua Clancy, a silver medalist of the Tokyo 2020 Games. This season, she has Jana Milutinovic as her partner.

Lithuanians Monika Paulikiene and Aine Raupelyte, who became the first beach volleyball players to represent their country at the Olympics at last year's Paris Games, will also compete in Nuvali this week.

The tournament begins on Wednesday, with the qualifiers being held for teams of both genders - eight men's and eight women's duos will advance to form the 32-team main draws.
