Graudina in action during the Paris Elite16 final

Beach volleyball star Tina Graudina was recently named Latvia’s Sportswoman of the Year at the prestigious Three Star Award 2022 ceremony, honouring the country’s best athletes.

As she and her partner Anastasija Kravcenoka are currently in Tenerife, preparing for their appearance at next week's Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Finals in Doha, Tina could not attend the ceremony in person and received the award remotely.

In 2022, Anastasija and Tina earned two Beach Pro Tour Elite16 silver medals, in Rosarito and Paris. They also triumphed as European champions for the second time in their career at EuroBeachVolley 2022 in Munich, and finished the year as the number five team in the FIVB World Ranking. Tina was also a key member of the Latvian women’s national team that earned bronze at the inaugural CEV Nations Cup in Vienna.

During the year, Tina graduated from the University of Southern California in the United States after claiming the NCAA Division I beach volleyball title as a member of the USC Trojans. In July, she and her American partner Hailey Harward topped the standings at the AVP Pro Series Fort Lauderdale Open.

It was the second consecutive time the 24-year-old blocker earned the Latvian award. She was also honoured as Sportswoman of 2021 at last year’s Three Star Award ceremony, after making it to the semifinals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The Three Star Award is a unique concept for evaluating sports achievements. The determination of the winners is based on three elements - the vote of the fans, the nominations of sports organisations and the nominations of sports journalists.
