Rosarito, Mexico - Elite 16 - Beach Pro Tour 2022 - News

That Rosarito sign could well be the most photographed and the most posted sight on beach volleyball athletes’ Instagram accounts as the sport’s best teams gather in the Mexican Pacific resort for this week's historic Beach Pro Tour Elite 16 event.

For some teams, like Olympic silver medallists Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho Del Solar of Australia, or the highest ranked Italian pair Adrian Carambula and Enrico Rossi, the tournament will mark their debut on the new Tour, after they skipped the inaugural Tlaxcala Challenge last week.

Others, like the reunited duo of 2015 Youth Olympic champions Eduarda Santos Lisboa and Ana Patricia Ramos of Brazil, were eager to post photos before even flying out to Mexico, from their departure airport.

Reigning world champions Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes of Canada shared their excitement on Instagram even earlier, while they were still at their training camps preparing for their big debut.

The trip to Rosarito has an added value for Melissa, who is always eager to freshen up her language (and dancing) skills in her parents’ native Spanish.

USA’s Betsi Flint has also turned on a Latin American vibe, which is clearly audible and visible in her post from Rosarito.

The world’s number one men’s team, Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan of Qatar were looking in the direction of Rosarito as they posted their photo from California’s Hermosa Beach, before making the trip just across the border to Baja California.

Again demonstrating their notorious sense of fun, Czechia’s Ondrej Perusic & David Schweiner chose a different Rosarito sign for their first photo session from the Mexican shores.

And Enrico Rossi went with a video of the Rosarito scenery, exclaiming “we have arrived!!”
