Tlaxcala, Mexico - Challenge - Beach Pro Tour 2022 - News

Will Russian national champions Nadezda Makroguzova and Svetlana Kholomina again be amongst the top teams in 2022? With the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour set to begin in March, look out for a pairing which could be up there with the very best.

Silver medallists at the U21 World Championships in 2016 and 2017, Kholomina and Makroguzova, both 24, have gradually stamped their mark on the international sport. They were gold medallists in Espinho in 2019, defeating USA pair Sarah Sponcil and Kelly Claes in the final. They then won silver in Cancun last year (falling only to Brazil's Agatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda 'Duda' Lisboa), bronze in Sochi, and progressed to the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where they made it to the Round of 16.

They wrapped up a very promising season just shy of the podium at the 2021 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals in Cagliari, losing to Olympic champions Alix Klineman and April Ross in the match for bronze.
