The women’s national teams of Belgium and Poland will be the first to hit the Volleyball Nations League 2026 courts as the eighth season of the spectacular annual competition serves off on June 3. The two European teams will go head to head in the opening game in Nanjing, China starting at 11:30 local time (03:30 UTC) to get the exciting race towards the Finals underway.

The VNL 2026 match dates involving the world’s best national teams – 18 VNL men’s teams and 18 VNL women’s teams – has been released. As in 2025, during the preliminary phase, each team will play a total of 12 games in three competition weeks. The seven teams with the best records will then join hosts China at the Finals in Macao for women and in Ningbo for men.

Each competition week will offer a total of 12 games per venue – three on Wednesday, two on Thursday, two on Friday, two on Saturday, and another three on Sunday.

Women’s VNL schedule

First-week action at the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Sports Park Gymnasium will be highlighted by the encounter of hosts China with the bronze medalists of the previous three VNL seasons, Poland, in the very last match of that pool, on Sunday, June 7, at 19:00 (11:00). The program of the pool to be played that same week at the Arena BRB Nilson Nelson in Brasilia will feature a remake of last year’s FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship final between Turkiye and reigning world and Olympic champions Italy on June 6 at 15:30 (18:30), and a remake of last year’s VNL final between hosts Brazil and defending champions Italy on June 7 at 14:30 (17:30). Meanwhile, in the opening game at the Centre Videotron in Quebec City, Canada, Ukraine will make their VNL debut against three-time VNL champions and Paris 2024 Olympic silver medalists USA on June 3 at 11:00 (15:00).

A remake of the last Olympic final between the United States and Italy is coming up in week two. It will take place on June 20 at 16:00 (08:00) in the Philippines. The Turkish fans in Ankara will be delighted to see the home team take on mighty China in the pool’s closing game on June 21 at 19:30 (16:30).

As the race for the tickets to Macao heats up during the third competition week, the fans at the Asue Arena in Kansai will be able to indulge in home team Japan’s mouth-watering matches – a remake of last year’s spectacular semifinal against Brazil on July 8, an all-Asian derby with Thailand on July 9, a remake of last year’s spectacular quarterfinal against Turkiye on July 11, and a remake of last year’s bronze medal match against Poland on July 12, all serving off at 19:20 (10:20). Meanwhile, a high-profile duel between hosts China and Italy will highlight and close the competition week at the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong on July 12 at 20:00 (12:00).

Men’s VNL schedule

Defending champions Poland, the number one team in the FIVB World Ranking, will get to open the men’s VNL 2026 with a game against Cuba at the Linyi Olympic Sports Park Gymnasium in China on June 10 at 13:00 (05:00). The first competition day will also present a super clash between reigning Olympic champions France and reigning world champions Italy at the TD Place in Ottawa, Canada, at 16:00 (20:00). After hosting one of the women’s pools, Brasilia will welcome some men’s action as well. It will get underway with rookies Belgium’s first ever VNL match – on June 10 at 13:00 (16:00) against Bulgaria.

A remake of last year’s Men’s World Championship gold medal showdown between Bulgaria and Italy at the Stozice in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana will get the second competition week started on June 24 at 13:00 (11:00). That week will also offer a clash of titans between Brazil and Italy on June 26 at 20:00 (18:00).

Chicago will be in the spotlight during the crucial third competition week, with Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalists USA entertaining some of the world’s best teams at the NOW Arena – Brazil on July 16, Bulgaria on July 18 and Poland on July 19, all starting at 20:00 (01:00 + 1 day). Olympic champs France will also be there taking on the same opponents. That same week, the pool in Kansai will feature an exciting battle between hosts Japan and Italy on July 15 at 19:20 (10:20) at the Asue Arena.
