Set to enter the 2025-2026 Tauron Liga playoffs as the top team in the regular season, defending champions KS DevelopRes Rzeszów saw their long winning streak in the tournament come to an end this weekend during the tenth leg of the second round.

The team from Rzeszów went on the road against ITA TOOLS STAL Mielec on Sunday and went down 3-1 (25-17, 19-25, 25-22, 25-18), enduring their first defeat since the end of October.

Although the upset didn't alter DevelopRes' situation in the standings, as they continue clear at the top with 58 points and are already guaranteed as the top-seeded team heading into the playoffs, it challenges the confidence of the team, which was overcome by a Tauron Liga opponent after 17 consecutive victories.

STAL Mielec, who are also guaranteed in the postseason, managed to move up a spot in the standings, getting to 31 points and passing LOTTO Chemik Police (29) for sixth place. As both teams have already played their 11th-leg match in advance, they will enter the playoffs with the sixth-best campaign.

STAL Mielec counted on a well-diversified offense to beat DevelopRes, with outside hitters Aleksandra Kazała, who earned the match's MVP award, and Anna Bączyńska scoring 19 points each and opposite Weronika Sobiczewska adding 16.

"We did well in every area of the game, and that's what led us to this fantastic result," Sobiczewska said. "I think this match against DevelopRes showed we can do really well in the playoffs and that anyone can beat anyone in this league."

Oliwia Sieradzka was DevelopRes' most productive player in the match with 12 points, two more than fellow opposite Taylor Bannister.

Radomka Radom catch Pałac

The race for the last spot in the playoffs had another chapter this weekend, evening the field between MOYA Radomka Radom and Metalkas Pałac Bydgoszcz ahead of the last and decisive leg of the regular season.

Radomka Radom started the weekend three points behind Pałac, but caught them at 25 points after they defeated Chemik Police 3-1 (12-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-21) on Thursday and their rivals fell in straight sets (25-17, 25-13, 25-20) to UNI Opole on Monday.

The result also made UNI Opole get to 46 points and confirm the third-highest seed for the playoffs. They were competing with BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała, who lost 3-2 (25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 25-27, 17-15) to tenth-placed Sokół & Hagric Mogilno on Saturday and now have 41 points, settling for fourth.

The tenth leg also had second-placed PGE Budowlani Łódź beating 12th-placed and relegated EcoHarpoon NOWEL LOS Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-18, 25-21) and fifth-placed ŁKS Commercecon Łódź overcoming 11th-placed #VolleyWrocław also in four sets (17-25, 25-13, 25-14, 28-26) on Saturday.
