The fight for the four spots in the 2025-2026 Tauron Liga semifinals continues this weekend, with all four quarterfinal series having the second matches of their best-of-three series going on between Saturday and Monday.

While half of the eight teams competing will be looking to triumph for the second time and bring their series to an end, the other four sides will be playing for survival and determined to force a third and decisive encounter.

Opening the weekend in Poland will be Metalkas Pałac Bydgoszcz, which finished eighth in the regular season, and defending champions and top-seeded KS DevelopRes Rzeszów, who will play on Saturday, at 12:30 local time (13:30 UTC), in Bydgoszcz.

After winning the first match in straight sets at home on Tuesday, DevelopRes will try to repeat the strong performance on the road to progress.

"We're definitely the favorites in this match, and we want to win as quickly as possible to preserve our energy," outside hitter Julita Piasecka said. "We're going to Bydgoszcz determined to end the series there."

Pałac, which had only nine players available in the first match, missing some key starters, have a big mountain to climb to continue alive beyond Saturday, as they would need to defeat DevelopRes for the first time in ten years to do so.

"We'll do everything in our power to return to Rzeszów for the third match," middle blocker Marta Pol said. "We'll try to give it our all and see what happens. But DevelopRes are the clear favorites, and we can't see it any differently."

STAL Mielec look to qualify at home

Also on Saturday, ITA TOOLS STAL Mielec will be the only team with the opportunity of ending the quarterfinal series at home this weekend. After securing a surprising 3-1 road win against UNI Opole on Tuesday, they return to Mielec to play their opponents again at 17:30 (18:30 UTC) and need another positive result to return to the Tauron Liga semifinals for the first time since 2003-2004.

"We feel that our game is really coming together now at the end of the season," setter Julia Bińczycka said. "It's great to see the hard work getting us results, and now we want to win Saturday's match and make it to the semifinals."

The quarterfinals continue on Sunday, at 17:30 (18:30 UTC), when ŁKS Commercecon Łódź return home to try to extend their series against BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała after going down in four sets in the first encounter, on Wednesday.

On Monday, PGE Budowlani Łódź will try to carry the momentum created with their massive reverse sweep over LOTTO Chemik Police on Wednesday to overcome their opponents again on the road at 17:30 (18:30 UTC).

"Last match showed that anything can happen in the playoffs and that nothing will come easy," Budowlani's outside hitter Paulina Damaske reflected. "We'll try to improve our approach for the second match, but we'll also need to be ready for another good performance from them."
