The two points earned with the victory got Radomka Radom up to 17 (six wins, nine losses) and were enough to place them eighth in the standings - they had fallen to ninth last week. They managed to pass ITA TOOLS STAL Mielec, who lost 3-1 (25-19, 15-25, 25-19, 25-19) at home to UNI Opole on Monday and dropped to ninth place, with 16 points.
Veteran opposite Monika Gałkowska earned the match's MVP award after standing out as Radomka Radom's top scorer with 20 points (17 kills, two blocks, one ace).
Outside hitters Dagmara Dąbrowska (18) and Agata Plaga (14) and middle blockers Kornelia Garita (15) and Kateryna Zhylinska (11) all got to double digits in scoring as well.
"We made a lot of errors today," Garita reflected. "We are going through some changes in the club, but that shouldn't have happened. We have good players and should play good volleyball and win matches. We could be in a tough situation if we hadn't won today, and because of that, I'm happy with the two points."
Nowy Dwór, which continue in a critical situation in the fight against relegation, had outside hitter Barbara Zakościelna and opposite Malwina Stachowiak as their most productive players - each of them scored 11 points.
Another three matches were held on Saturday, having fourth-placed BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała beating seventh-placed Metalkas Pałac Bydgoszcz 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 25-17, 25-21), fifth-placed ŁKS Commercecon Łódź topping tenth-placed Sokół & Hagric Mogilno 3-2 (19-25, 21-25, 30-28, 25-20, 15-10) and league leaders KS DevelopRes Rzeszów overcoming sixth-placed LOTTO Chemik Police 3-1 (25-20, 25-11, 21-25, 25-21).
