DevelopRes return to the Tauron Liga with another victory

Defending champions KS DevelopRes Rzeszów didn't have much time to celebrate their third Polish Supercup title, returning to action in the 2025-2026 Tauron Liga only two days after their victory in Katowice.

The team from Rzeszów, however, continued in positive spirits, defeating LOTTO Chemik Police 3-1 (28-26, 25-18, 23-25, 25-18) on the road on Friday in the fifth leg of the regular season and solidifying its spot at the top of the standings.

With four victories and one loss, DevelopRes continue in first place in the Tauron Liga with 13 points. They are one point ahead of PGE Budowlani Łódź and two in front of MOYA Radomka Radom, which both also have four wins and one loss. ŁKS Commercecon Łódź complete the top four with ten points (four wins, two losses).

American opposite Taylor Bannister had an excellent performance against Chemik, leading the team with 20 points (13 kills, five aces, two blocks) and earning the match's MVP award. Other standouts in the team, which rested some starters, were middle blocker Dominika Pierzchała and outside hitter Aleksandra Dudek, who produced 18 points each.

Polish national team standout Natalia Mędrzyk was Chemik's leading scorer with 16 points (15 kills, one block), two more than fellow outside hitter Julia Orzoł, who got her entire production on offense.

Pałac upset Bielsko-Biała

The most surprising result of the fifth leg of the regular season happened on Saturday, when Metalkas Pałac Bydgoszcz, which entered the week in seventh place, defeated then-fourth-placed BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała 3-2 (14-25, 25-21, 25-20, 13-25, 15-12). Despite the result, Pałac continued in seventh, now with seven points, while Bielsko-Biała went down to sixth (nine points).

Greek outside hitter Élena Báka and French opposite Victoria Foucher carried Pałac to victory with 19 and 17 points, respectively. Bielsko-Biała had the match's top scorer in Estonian opposite Kertu Laak, who tallied 23 points.

The fifth leg started on Thursday, when third-placed Radomka Radom swept (25-17, 27-25, 25-19) 12th-placed EcoHarpoon NOWEL LOS Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki at home. On Sunday, second-placed Budowlani did the same to ninth-placed #VolleyWrocław, triumphing 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-19) on the road.

The last two matches were held on Monday, when fifth-placed UNI Opole swept (25-21, 25-23, 25-18) tenth-placed ITA TOOLS STAL Mielec and fourth-placed Commercecon dominated 11th-placed Sokół & Hagric Mogilno to a three-set (25-23, 25-15, 25-22) victory.

The sixth leg of the regular season will start soon, with one match on Thursday, two on Friday, one on Saturday, one on Monday and one on Tuesday.
