PGE Budowlani Lodz finished the 2025-2026 regular season in second place on 56 points and a 19-3 win-loss record, runners-up to DevelopRes Rzeszow, who topped the table on 61 and 20-2. In the quarterfinals, the team from Lodz persevered through two five-set battles with LOTTO Chemik Police to progress to the semis. They got their next job done in two games as well, winning the best-of-three semifinal playoff against UNI Opole, by 3-0 at home and 3-2 away, to advance to the final showdown against defending champions DevelopRes, who were pushed to a third-match decider by BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biala in the other semifinal playoff.

In the best-of-five final series, the two teams kept winning their home games towards a 2-2 tie and prompted a crucial fifth encounter hosted by the regular season winners in Rzeszow. In front of over 4,300 fans in the stands at the iconic Podpromie hall, Budowlani broke the trend and upset DevelopRes with a 3-1 (25-23, 25-18, 22-25, 25-23) victory. Swiss opposite Maja Storck led the winners with a match-high 24 points, including two kill blocks. Outside hitter Paulina Damaske added another 22 points, all in swings, and was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the match. Dutch sub-in outside Laura Jansen was DevelopRes’s most prolific scorer with 14 points.
