Budowlani bounce back and continue in second place

PGE Budowlani Łódź provided a strong response to their first 2025-2026 Tauron Liga defeat in almost two months, getting back to winning ways in the fourth leg of the second round of the regular season and keeping their spot as the second-best team in the league.

A week after going down to league leaders KS DevelopRes Rzeszów, the team from Łódź went on the road and swept (25-14, 25-9, 25-23) LOTTO Chemik Police, quickly recovering from their setback.

With the road win, Budowlani got to 36 points (12 wins, three losses), and managed to continue ahead of third-placed UNI Opole, which got to 33 (11 wins, three losses) after defeating Sokół & Hagric Mogilno 3-1 (14-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22) also on Monday. DevelopRes continue seven points clear at the top of the standings with 43 (14 wins, one loss).

Romanian outside hitter Rodica Buterez led Budowlani's strong performance, topping all scorers with 16 points (12 kills, three blocks, one ace) and earning the match's MVP award. Fellow outside hitter Paulina Damaske scored another 14 points for the winning team, with 12 kills, one block and one ace.

Ranked sixth in the Tauron Liga with 21 points (seven wins, eight losses), Chemik had outside hitter Julia Orzoł as their leading scorer - she scored nine points (eight kills, one block), one more than opposite Julia Hewelt.

Nowy Dwór earn first point

The fourth leg of the second round of the regular season was also marked by EcoHarpoon NOWEL LOS Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki earning their first point ever in the Polish elite.

Still in critical condition in the fight to avoid relegation, the Tauron Liga rookies pushed fifth-placed ŁKS Commercecon Łódź to five sets on the road on Sunday, but ended up falling 3-2 (23-25, 25-16, 25-21, 20-25, 15-13).

The weekend schedule started on Friday, with three matches, which had DevelopRes sweeping (25-16, 25-14, 25-16) ninth-placed MOYA Radomka Radom, eighth-placed ITA TOOLS STAL Mielec coming back to overcome seventh-placed Metalkas Pałac Bydgoszcz in the tie-breaker (10-25, 20-25, 28-26, 25-19, 15-10) and fourth-placed BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała beating 11th-placed #VolleyWrocław in straight sets (25-22, 26-24, 25-12).

The fifth leg of the second round will have four matches on Saturday and one on Monday. The duel between Budowlani and #VolleyWrocław has been postponed to February 11.
