In the most interesting of the seven double headers in the upcoming 19th leg of the women’s Daido Life SV.League in Japan, fourth-placed PFU BlueCats Ishikawa Kahoku is set to challenge table leaders NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki in an attempt to become the fourth team with a secure spot in the playoffs, after NEC themselves, Saga Hisamitsu Springs and defending champions Osaka Marvelous. The competition programs for the two days of action – Saturday and Sunday, March 7 and 8 – will offer the exact same starting times of the matches.

PFU BlueCats Ishikawa Kahoku will host NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki at the Toriyasaimiso BlueCats Arena at 13:05 local time (04:05 UTC) on both days of the weekend. The visitors top the current standings convincingly on a 30-4 win-loss ratio and 85 points, while the home team is fourth on 23-11 and 73. Both sides are on long winning streaks of six and four consecutive games, respectively. When Red Rockets hosted BlueCats earlier this season in November, the two squads traded three-point victories.

Second-placed Saga Hisamitsu Springs will travel to Astemo Rivale Ibaraki for matches at the Ikenokawa Sakura Arena, serving off at 14:05 (05:05). Following a victorious run of seven matches in a row, Saga stand on 27-7 and 73, while Astemo occupy 10th place on 14-20 and 45. In November, Hisamitsu Springs swept both home games against Astemo in straight sets.

Reigning champions Osaka Marvelous, who are running third on 25-9 and 76, will visit the Kariya City Gymnasium for a double header against Queenseis Kariya, with both matches starting at 13:05 (04:05). Queenseis are sixth in the table on 20-14 and 66. When Osaka entertained Kariya in November, the two teams exchanged four-set wins.

Victorina Himeji, taking fifth place on 23-11 and 67, will welcome Okayama Seagulls, second from the bottom, in 13th place on 4-30 and 15, to the Victorina Wink Gymnasium at 14:05 (05:05). In November, Himeji brought home two straight-set victories from their trip to Okayama.

Gunma Green Wings will visit Toray Arrows Shiga for the two competition days’ closing matches, serving off at 15:05 (06:05) at the YMIT Arena. Gunma are in seventh place on 18-16 and 53, while Toray Arrows stand 12th on 6-28 and 17. When they previously met in November, Green Wings celebrated two home wins, by 3-2 and 3-1.

Denso Airybees Koriyama, currently eighth on 16-18 and 51, will try to consolidate their place in the playoff zone with a successful home double header against table trailers Aranmare Yamagata, who occupy 14th place on 3-31 and 10. The matches at the Daisen Arena Nishio will serve off at 13:05 (04:05). The team from Koriyama took two straight-set road wins over Aranmare in November.

Kurobe Aqua Fairies and Saitama Ageo Medics will meet at the Kurobe City Gymnastics Center at 14:05 (05:05), in games relevant for the race for quarterfinal spots. Kurobe are in 11th place on 14-20 and 41, while Ageo are two spots above them, but still under the cut-oof, in ninth place on 15-19 and 42. October’s matches between these two squads produced five-set battles, both won by the visitors from Kurobe.
