This week’s 13th leg in the men’s Daido Life SV.League in Japan will feature only one double header, in view of Sunday’s All-Star Game in Kobe, but it will offer an unpredictable clash between two strong teams and neighbors in the current standings – Tokyo Great Bears and Hiroshima Thunders – with the two matches set to be played on Friday and Saturday, January 30 and 31.

Tokyo Great Bears will entertain Hiroshima Thunders at the Yoyogi 1st National Gymnasium on Friday at 19:05 local (10:05 UTC) and on Saturday at 15:05 (06:05). The home team, with the likes of Polish opposite Bartosz Kurek, Slovenian middle blocker Jan Kozamernik, Argentinean outside hitter Luciano Vicentin and Portuguese outside hitter Alexandre Fereira on its stellar roster, is running in sixth place on a 10-12 win-loss ratio and 30 points. The visiting squad around Brazilian opposite Felipe Roque and American outside Copper Robinson is one position higher, in fifth place, also on a 10-12 win-loss ratio, but with 31 points.
It will be the second double header between the two teams this season. In the second half of November, the team from the capital visited their opponents at the IHI Arena Kure in Hiroshima and celebrated two victories – 3-2 in the first match and 3-1 in the second – as Bartos Kurek led the way with a total of 49 points in the two games.
