After finishing fifth in the 2024-2025 Superliga, Minas underwent significant changes in the offseason, seeing national team players Arthur Bento and Maique Nascimento and Olympian Isac Santos depart, among others. The new team is yet to find its best form, and dropped its first two matches to Vôlei Guarulhos Bateubet and Joinville Vôlei.
On Saturday, Minas will return to action for the first time in 11 days, as their third-round match against SESI Bauru was postponed after many of their players got sick in the days leading up to the encounter. With only one point earned so far, they rank tenth in the standings.
"The break was necessary so we could take care of everyone," head coach Guilherme Novaes reflected. "We were able to get the players back and gradually eased them all back into training. The team has been improving, and the goal is that we get our identity and our fighting spirit back so we can start earning good results."
One of their returning players, opposite Abouba Dramé has produced 23 points in the first two matches of the season. Veteran outside hitter Renato 'Pato' Russomano has also been very active, with 19 points.
