At the end of the sixth leg of the regular season, Praia appear in first place with 21 points (eight wins), followed by Cruzeiro, who have 20 (six wins, two losses), and Vôlei Renata Campinas, who are third with 17 (six wins, one loss) and have one game in hand.
Praia's appearance in the sixth leg happened on Friday, when they hosted tenth-placed in-state rivals Itambé Minas at the UTC Arena for the weekend's Derby and triumphed 3-2 (29-27, 26-24, 20-25, 23-25, 15-13). Libero Filipe 'Filipinho' Stolberg received the MVP award in their victory, which had opposite Franco Paese as the leading scorer with 22 points (21 kills, one ace).
On Sunday, they played in front of their home fans again, this time facing ninth-placed Azulim Sicoob Aracoop Monte Carmelo in an anticipated match from the tenth leg, and got all three points with a sweep (25-20, 25-18, 25-19). Setter Rhendrick Resley was the MVP of the match, which had Franco again as the leading scorer, this time with 11 points (nine kills, one block, one ace).
"We definitely weren't ready for another five-setter today," Resley joked. "The entire team played very well today, so anyone could have gotten the award. We were a little bit tired, and we have another match coming up in three days, so this was a match in which our mentality was very important, and we responded well. We're on the right path, doing our best to play as well as we can in each match, and this one was very important for us."
