With both Sada Cruzeiro and Vôlei Renata Campinas dropping their matches, Praia Clube were the biggest winners in the fourth leg of the second round of the 2025-2026 Brazilian Men's Superliga regular season.

The Uberlândia side took care of business on Monday, sweeping (25-21, 25-23, 25-17) Joinville Vôlei on the road, and benefited from the upsets of their two rivals to alter the picture at the top of the standings.

The three-set victory over Joinville made Praia pass Campinas for second place, getting to 35 points (13 wins, two losses) - their rivals have 33 (11 wins, four losses). The triumph also helped them close the gap to leaders Cruzeiro, who have 38 (12 wins, three losses) and are now only three points ahead.

Opposite Franco Paese was the top scorer in Praia's victory, registering 17 points (16 kills, one block) - outside hitter Paulo Vinicios Silva followed with 12 (ten kills, one block, one ace). The match's MVP award went to libero Filipe 'Filipinho' Stolberg, who delivered 11 passes and produced 18 digs.

"The second round of the regular season has been extremely competitive," Filipinho said. "I see every team playing closer to their best level, and we understand that dropping a point can be way too costly. Some of the top teams in the standings lost their matches, and we get on the court in every match determined to take all three points. We're improving, and I'm looking forward to what's next."

Joinville's outside hitter Guilherme Amorim matched Franco's production, ending the match with 15 kills and two blocks to his name.

Cruzeiro lose the Derby

After winning nine consecutive matches in domestic tournaments, Cruzeiro were taken down by in-state rivals Itambé Minas on Sunday. The teams met at the UniBH Arena, in Belo Horizonte, and the home team, which ranks fourth in the standings, triumphed 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-22).

Opposite Aboubacar 'Abouba' Dramé led Minas' offense with 21 points (20 kills, one block), while outside hitter Leonardo Lukas scored 17 (ten kills, five blocks, two aces) and took home the MVP award.

Campinas had an even more surprising setback, falling to seventh-placed Vôlei Guarulhos Bateubet 3-1 (21-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-22) on the road on Saturday.

Outside hitter Vinicius Miranda led Guarulhos with 15 points (all in kills) and was selected as the match's MVP.

The fourth leg also had eighth-placed Azulim Sicoob Aracoop Monte Carmelo upsetting fifth-placed Saneago Goiás Vôlei 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 25-17, 25-18) and tenth-placed Viapol Vôlei São José sweeping (25-23, 25-22, 25-21) 12th-placed JF Vôlei on Sunday and sixth-placed Suzano Vôlei overcoming seventh-placed SESI Bauru in the tie-breaker (27-25, 20-25, 25-22, 28-30, 15-12) on Monday.
