Defending champions Sada Cruzeiro claimed the first spot in the 2025-2026 Brazilian Men's Superliga playoffs during the fifth leg of the second round of the regular season, which was completed on Monday, becoming the first team confirmed to appear in the postseason.

Coming from a defeat to rivals Itambé Minas, Cruzeiro bounced back on Saturday, beating sixth-placed Saneago Goiás Vôlei 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-17) at home in Contagem.

With the victory, Cruzeiro got to 41 points (13 wins, three losses). Their presence in the playoffs was confirmed on Monday, when ninth-placed SESI Bauru, who are the first team outside the qualification zone, defeated second-placed Praia Clube 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 15-12). With 22 points and only six matches left, they can no longer catch the defending champions.

One of three Cruzeiro players to end the match with nine points, Olympic champion middle blocker Lucas Saatkamp received the match's MVP award - outside hitter Douglas Souza and fellow middle blocker Otávio Pinto were the others. Outside hitter Rodrigo 'Rodriguinho' Leão led the team with 14 (ten kills, three blocks, one ace).

"I think that today we were more consistent on the court," Lucas said. "We had too many ups and downs against Minas and could never get on a rhythm. We had been very consistent in the first half of the season and are looking to get back to that, because it's something very important for our team."

The match also marked the return to action of Olympic champion opposite Wallace de Souza, who had been sidelined due to knee surgery since October. He came in briefly during the second set.

Goiás' opposite André Saliba led all scorers with 15 points (13 kills, one block, one ace). The team has 24 points and appears in sixth place.

Suzano win fourth straight match

Also on Saturday, Suzano Vôlei earned their fourth-straight victory, overcoming fourth-placed Minas 3-2 (25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 24-26, 15-12) and taking advantage of Goiás' upset to move up to fifth place with 26 points.

Also on Saturday, third-placed Vôlei Renata Campinas responded to an unexpected defeat to Vôlei Guarulhos Bateubet and came back to triumph 3-1 (24-26, 26-24, 25-11, 25-15) against 11th-placed Joinville Vôlei.

Now ranked seventh, Guarulhos overcame 12th-placed JF Vôlei in four sets (22-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-22) on Sunday, while eighth-placed Azulim Sicoob Aracoop Monte Carmelo downed tenth-placed Viapol Vôlei São José in straight sets (25-17, 25-23, 25-14) on Monday.
