Coming from a massive five-set road victory over reigning world champions Sada Cruzeiro in an anticipated match of the 2025-2026 Brazilian Men's Superliga on Wednesday, Vôlei Renata Campinas enter the fifth leg of the regular season this weekend determined to continue in good form in the tournament.

Set to compete at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship next month, they will try to obtain their fifth victory in the Superliga on Sunday, when they will be on the road again, this time against Joinville Vôlei - the teams met at 17:00 local time (20:00 UTC).

After finishing second in the Superliga in 2024-2025, Campinas continue among the favorites to win the title this season. With a star-studded roster that features Olympic champions Bruno Rezende and Maurício Borges, Argentine Olympic medalist Bruno Lima and Brazilian national team players Adriano Xavier and Judson Nunes, they are currently in third place with 11 points (four wins, one loss).

In a three-match winning streak since their surprising defeat to Saneago Goiás Vôlei in the second leg, they want to find a more consistent game to challenge league leaders Praia Clube, which are the only undefeated team with 14 points, and second-placed Cruzeiro, which have 13.

"I think we're still having too many ups and downs," team captain Bruno said. "We have been working hard, the team has a good mentality, and coach Horacio (Dileo) has been pushing us to be more consistent because we know the Superliga is very challenging. We've seen upsets happening in many matches, and we know we need to improve to get to the level we want."

Lima and Adriano have been carrying Campinas offensively, with 60 and 59 points scored, respectively. Judson is another of their standouts, ranking second in both the Superliga serving (seven) and blocking (15) tables. The team also has the two best passers in the league in liberos Matheus Bandini (80.4 %) and Lucas 'Lukinhas' De Deus (72.9%).

Their opponents Joinville are currently in eighth place in the standings with three points (one win, four losses). Winless in their last three matches, they have opposite Kauan Jaques (65 points) and outside hitter Marcus Vinícius Coelho (51) as their leading scorers.

The teams have met seven times in Superliga matches and faced off in last year's quarterfinal playoffs, with Campinas coming out on top in five of those encounters.

São José and Monte Carmelo play on Thursday
