Vôlei Renata Campinas will make their third attempt to secure their first 2025-2026 Brazilian Men's Superliga victory in the 2026 calendar year on Wednesday, when they play in the third leg of the second round of the regular season.

Coming from back-to-back losses in the tournament, they will be at home at the Taquaral stadium, in Campinas, where they will face 11th-placed Viapol Vôlei São José at 21:00 local time (00:00 UTC, Thursday).

After going down to Azulim Sicoob Aracoop Monte Carmelo in five sets and being swept by Saneago Goiás Vôlei since the turn of the year, Campinas lost the top spot in the standings to defending champions Sada Cruzeiro. Currently five points behind the league leaders, the team, which has 30 points (ten wins, three losses), now also has to worry about being caught by third-placed Praia Clube, which are right after them, with 29 (11 wins, two losses).

Campinas' difficult run of form started back in December, during the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship. After winning their second pool play match in the tournament, the team lost three straight to finish fourth. Their last victory across all competitions happened more than a month ago, on December 17, when they topped Praia in the Club World Championship, while their most recent Superliga triumph came five days earlier, against 12th-placed JF Vôlei.

The team coached by Argentine national team coach Horacio Dileo has been without two key starters during the period, as both Olympic champion outside hitter Maurício Borges and Argentine Olympic medalist opposite Bruno Lima have been sidelined due to injuries.

Having Olympic champion setter Bruno Rezende as their main playmaker, Campinas have Brazilian national team outside hitter Adriano Xavier as their leading scorer with 199 points. Third in blocks (31 points) and fourth in aces (18) in the Superliga, middle blocker Judson Nunes is another key piece in the team.

On Wednesday, Campinas will face the second-best scorer in the Superliga, São José's opposite Davy Moraes, who has 228 points to his name so far in the season. With only one victory in their last five matches, São José are in 11th place with 11 points (three wins, ten losses), fighting to avoid relegation.

Campinas won the first-round encounter involving the teams in November in four sets. They have met 12 times in national tournaments since the 2021-2022 season, and São José have been slightly more successful, with seven victories.

Two more matches on Wednesday

Besides the duel between Campinas and São José, Wednesday's schedule in the Superliga will have two other matches, both starting at 18:30 local time (21:30 UTC) - sixth-placed Suzano Vôlei face tenth-placed Joinville Vôlei and third-placed Praia meet seventh-placed Vôlei Guarulhos Bateubet.
