Brazilian national team opposite Kisy Nascimento and Dominican Olympian outside hitter Yonkaira Peña were Minas’ most effective players, with 19 and 16 points respectively, all produced in kills.
In the quarterfinals, which will start next Friday and will be held in a best-of-three series, Praia will face Unilife Maringá Vôlei, who advanced in eighth place with 23 points (seven wins, 15 losses).
“They’re a tough team to play against,” Adenízia reflected. “Their defensive system is very strong and we’ll need to swing three or four times to score each point. We need to be determined to make fewer errors, remain focused and play as a team. Every time we manage to do that, we’re in good shape.”
Minas’ quarterfinal series will be against Flor de Ypê Paulistano Barueri, who finished in seventh place with 29 points (ten wins, 12 losses).
The series involving the third and sixth-best teams of the regular season will feature the traditional Derby between Osasco São Cristovão Saúde, who collected 47 points (15 wins, seven losses), and SESC RJ Flamengo, who earned 42 (13 wins, nine losses).
The fourth and last quarterfinal matchup has fourth-placed Fluminense, who ended the regular season with 43 points (15 wins, seven losses), and fifth-placed SESI Vôlei Bauru, who got 42 (14 wins, eight losses).
