Opposite Bianca Cugno is a key piece in Osasco's offense

Osasco São Cristovão Saúde and Dentil Praia Clube will be on opposite sides of the net in what should be the most exciting duel of the tenth leg of the second round of the 2025-2026 Brazilian Women's Superliga regular season this week.

Set to take place on Friday, at 21:00 local time (00:00 UTC, Saturday), in Osasco, the match that will conclude the tenth leg will most likely be decisive in the battle between them to head into the playoffs as the third-best team in the regular season.

Third-placed Praia (44 points) and fourth-placed Osasco (43) are separated by just one point, and the winners of Friday's duel will very likely enter the last and decisive leg of the regular season at an advantage. In fact, if Praia manage to win 3-0 or 3-1 on the road, they will confirm they will finish the regular season ahead of their opponents.

Osasco are going through a strong run of form since the end of December, having 14 victories in their last 17 matches, including a pair of wins over Superliga leaders Gerdau Minas. Their great moment has resulted in a victory at the Brazilian Cup and a second-place finish in the South American Club Championship, which ensured their return to the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship in December.

The second-best scorer of the Superliga with 368 points, Argentine opposite Bianca Cugno has been one of the standouts in the team coached by Luizomar  de Moura.

Their opponents Praia have ten wins in their last 13 matches and recovered from a slow start in the Superliga to get to the end of the regular season fighting at the top of the standings.

Praia's captain and Olympic champion middle blocker Adenízia Ferreira has been one of the pillars of the team's campaign, ranking fourth in the Superliga in blocks with 68.

Praia earned a three-set victory when the teams met in the first round of the Superliga regular season in December, but Osasco triumphed in the Club World Championship bronze medal match just four days before. The last ten encounters had seven victories for Praia and three for Osasco.

Mackenzie look to clinch last playoff spot

The tenth leg of the second round could also determine the last team qualified for the playoffs. Batavo Mackenzie, who are currently in eighth place and play seventh-placed Sancor Maringá Vôlei at home on Thursday, at 18:30 (21:30 UTC), are very close to confirming their presence in the postseason.

With 24 points, they have a five-point lead over ninth-placed Paulistano Barueri, who face tenth-placed Brasília Vôlei on the road on Thursday, also at 18:30 (21:30 UTC), and need to earn just one point to qualify regardless of other results.

A third match will be held on Thursday, with 12th-placed and already relegated Renasce Sorocaba hosting second-placed SESC RJ Flamengo at 21:00 (00:00 UTC, Friday).
