Batavo Mackezie returned to the qualification zone for the 2025-2026 Brazilian Women's Superliga playoffs as the fifth leg of the second round of the regular season was completed on Friday.

The Belo Horizonte side got on the court on Thursday and prevailed over Paulistano Barueri, coming back to win 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-23) and move up a spot in the standings.

The match was a direct duel for eighth place, and the result had Mackenzie, which started the week outside the qualification zone for the playoffs, in ninth place, getting to 17 points (six wins, ten losses) and passing Barueri, which continued with 15 (four wins, 12 losses).

The match's MVP award went to Mackenzie's libero Erica 'Kika' Lima, who registered 30 passes and 16 digs. Offensively, outside hitter Geovanna Rodrigues, with 17 points, and middle blocker Saraelen Lima and outside hitter Gabriella 'Gabiru' Souza, with 15 each, were the standouts.

"I'm very happy that we got this victory, we had to work hard for it," Kika said. "We're getting to a point in the Superliga where it's do or die. There's a handful of teams fighting for the last spots in the playoffs, and each point earned and each set won matters."

Barueri had two Brazilian national team players as their leading scorers - outside hitter Aline Segato and opposite Jheovana Emanuele, who produced 17 points each.

Praia beat SESI for fourth place

On Friday, Dentil Praia Clube and SESI Vôlei Bauru battled for fourth place in the standings, and, despite playing on the road, Praia triumphed 3-0 (25-21, 29-27, 25-22). They now have 33 points to SESI's 32.

American Payton Caffrey led Praia with 17 points (15 kills, one block, one ace), but it was fellow outside hitter Michelle Pavão who took home the MVP award after scoring 12 (11 kills, one ace).

Also on Friday, league leaders SESC RJ Flamengo swept (25-18, 25-19, 25-19) tenth-placed Brasília Vôlei and second-placed Gerdau Minas downed 11th-placed Tijuca Tênis Clube also in straight sets (25-18, 25-15, 25-14).

Two other matches were held on Thursday, with third-placed Osasco São Cristovão Saúde beating seventh-placed Sancor Maringá Vôlei 3-1 (18-25, 25-10, 25-19, 25-21) and sixth-placed Fluminense sweeping (25-20, 25-21, 25-10) 12th-placed Renasce Sorocaba.
