The Italian men’s volleyball SuperLega Credem Banca competition week will get underway again on Wednesday, November 26, with an early fixture of the 12th leg, featuring next month’s FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship participants Sir Susa Scai Perugia against Vero Volley Monza, and will continue on Saturday and Sunday, November 29 and 30, with the regular six games of the eighth leg, highlighted by Sunday’s match between Allianz Milan and Itas Trentino Trento.

The first SuperLega match of the week, between Sir Susa Scai Perugia and Vero Volley Monza, will serve off at 20:30 local time (19:30 UTC) on Wednesday. The reigning European champions, who have already played one extra game in comparison to most other teams in the league, are about to make that two as they welcome Vero Volley to the Barton Energy hall. The Block Devils are running second in the current standings on 17 points and a 6-2 win-loss record, while their visitors from Monza are second from the bottom, in 11th place on 4 and 1-6. When the two teams played their first-leg game in Monza back in October, Sir beat Vero Volley in four sets, with Ukrainian star outside hitter Oleh Plotnytskyi named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of that match.

“I think they'll arrive in Perugia even more ready than in the first leg. They've got their spiker (Erik) Rohrs back, so they'll be a complete team and will come with the will to beat us. We need to focus on our game to get back to winning, given that we've lost our last two matches. In the first leg, when we were down a set, the key to our comeback was finding our rhythm right away. We made fewer errors and we stayed united.” Oleh Plotnytskyi, outside hitter of Sir Susa Scai Perugia
“It will be a tough match against Perugia. After a long trip, we'll be facing one of the best teams in Italy. We have to give it our all and try to earn points. After our recent losses, we're continuing to work hard. We're trying to improve in every practice, remaining confident in our potential.” Martin Atanasov, outside hitter of Vero Volley Monza

The two teams will appear in action again over the weekend. Sir Susa Scai Perugia will host Cisterna Volley on Sunday at 18:00 (17:00), while Vero Volley Monza will entertain Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza at the Opiquad Arena in the weekend’s opener on Saturday at 20:00 (19:00). Cisterna are in 10th place on 6 and 3-4, while Gas Sales stand seventh on 12 and 4-3.

In the highest-profile match of the week, Allianz Milan will host Itas Trentino Trento at the Unipol Forum in Assago on Sunday, at 18:00 (17:00). The home team will try to extend their four-game winning streak that has lifted them to fifth place on 13 and 5-2. The defending champions from Trento, on the other hand, will try to achieve their fourth consecutive victory, after the previous three raised them to third place on 15 and 5-2. Trentino took the full six points from their two encounters with Allianz last season and put an end to the opponents’ three-game winning run in the head-to-head series. The all-time record between the two clubs stands at 24-6 Trentino’s way.

Sunday’s program will offer three more matches. Table leaders Rana Verona will visit Sonepar Padova Padua, who produced a big upset of Cucine Lube Civitanova in their previous game. Verona lead the way on 17 and 6-1, while Padova are ninth on 8 and 3-4. The game at the Kioene Arena will start at 17:00 (16:00).

At the same time, Cucine Lube Civitanova will try to get back on the winning track after two consecutive defeats on the road and maintain their perfect record at home as they welcome MA Acqua San Bernardo Cuneo to the sports hall in Civitanova Marche. Lube occupy fourth place on 14 and 4-3, while the SuperLega rookies from Cuneo stand eighth on 9 and 2-6.

Serving off at 18:00 (17:00), Valsa Group Modena will entertain winless Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina at the Panini hall. Modena are running in sixth place on 13 and 4-3, while Grottazzolina trail bottom, in 12th place on 1 and 0-7.
