Allianz Milan v Rana Verona

Allianz Milan will welcome Rana Verona to the Allianz Cloud for the fourth game of their quarterfinal playoff, on Saturday at 20:30 local time (19:30 UTC). The series stands at 2-1 in wins Verona’s way and they have a shot at making the semifinals this weekend. In the first match of the series, Italy Cup winners and SuperLega regular season runners-up Verona handed their seventh-placed visitors Allianz an emphatic 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-21) shutout, but in the second, they had to mount a dramatic 3-2 (25-27, 20-25, 25-16, 25-22, 17-15) comeback from two sets down to overcome the home team’s resistance. In the third game, Allianz surprised Rana in Verona with an epic 3-2 (26-24, 26-24, 22-25, 23-25, 15-10) victory to stay alive in the series. Verona swept the previous three matches against Allianz this season in straight sets – two in the SuperLega regular season and one in a Coppa Italia quarterfinal. The overall head-to-head record stands at 23-14 in favor of Verona.

“I don't know how many believed in it, to be honest. I know I believed in it, along with the staff and the team. We prepared to be able to bring Verona back to our arena. These are playoff games, real games, the ones you have to play with your teeth and never give up a ball. Game three was a good game, but we have to forget about it immediately. We watch it again, analyze it and prepare for another important match. On Saturday, we need our fans, the ones that, I know, can fill the Allianz Cloud. We need everyone, because it will be another very tough game.” Roberto Piazza, head coach of Allianz Milan
“The important thing is to be able to bring that energy that characterizes us to the court, and that's what we're working on. There's not much time to spend in the gym, but we're definitely eager to go to Milan and experience a moment we've been waiting for all season, while playing good volleyball. That's what I think we need to be absolutely convinced of, with great serenity and clarity, going onto the court with what has led to all the results we've achieved so far: the energy and positivity of a team that relies on this type of characteristics.” Fabio Soli, head coach of Rana Verona
Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza v Valsa Group Modena

The fourth leg of the quarterfinal playoff between Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza and Valsa Group Modena will bring the series back to the Banca Sport hall in Piacenza on Sunday at 18:00 local time (17:00 UTC), with the home team leading the way by 2-1 in wins. So far, this clash has lived up to the expectations that the two neighbors in the final regular season standings would offer the toughest fight. Fourth-placed Modena and fifth-placed Gas Sales traded wins in two nail-biting five-set battles, with Modena, led by Luca Porro, achieving a nail-biting 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 17-15) reverse sweep at home, and Gas Sales, led by Luca’s older brother Paolo Porro, reacting with a 3-2 (18-25, 25-17, 28-30, 25-21, 18-16) victory at their own venue. The third match was won by the visitors from Piacenza in the dramatic fourth set, 3-1 (25-17, 17-25, 25-20, 30-28). The all-time head-to-head record between the two clubs has now been tilted to 14-13 the way of Gas Sales. This season alone, they have already met six times, including December’s Italy Cup quarterfinal, and have achieved three wins each.

“We won a very important match for the series, but on Sunday we'll start from zero.” Dante Boninfante, head coach of Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza
“We'll approach this match with the spirit of a team that really enjoys playing at the Panini hall, so we'd like to play another game at home. We'll go to Piacenza with the desire to do well and bounce back from our last defeat. We've studied every single detail that can make the difference.” Alberto Giuliani, head coach of Valsa Group Modena
