Itas Trentino Trento and Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza will take to the court in Casalecchio di Reno near Bologna at 15:30 local time (14:30 UTC).

Reigning national champions Trentino are aiming at winning the Coppa Italia trophy for the first time since 2013. In fact, they have won the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship more times (five) in the club’s history than they have the Italy Cup with three trophies from that competition. To qualify for this year’s Final Four, Trentino mastered a straight-set sweep of their home quarterfinal against Vero Volley Monza in late December. They have been regular participants in the Coppa Italia semifinals in every single edition since 2010. Currently, the team from Trento is running third in the SuperLega Credem Banca table on 42 points and a 14-5 win-loss record.

Gas Sales are also among the previous winners of the Italian national cup. They claimed the crown in 2023, the young club’s only major trophy to date. After missing out on the semifinals the following two seasons, in this season’s quarterfinals, the squad from Piacenza managed a four-set home victory over Valsa Group Modena and made it among the last four of the competition. In the SuperLega, Gas Sales occupy fifth place on 39 and 12-7.

Trentino and Gas Sales engaged in a five-set battle when they met earlier this season in the league. In December’s match, hosts Trentino managed to squeeze out the victory and improved the all-time head-to-head record between the two clubs to 21-6.

“It's always a wonderful feeling to be able to play in the Coppa Italia Final Four. We deserved it and now we'll try to give it our all. We're coming off a difficult period, in which we had to deal with the unavailability of key players for our team. We may still be in a state of emergency this weekend, but we're coming to Bologna with a clear mind. We'll put all our determination and aggression on the court to try to achieve another great result. We'll face a very strong opponent, who has been playing well. They've had a steadily improving second half of the season. We know them well and we know it's going to be a very tough match.” Riccardo Sbertoli, setter and captain of Itas Trentino Trento
“The Coppa Italia Final Four will undoubtedly be a great and important event, one that the club and all of us are very passionate about. It will be a great match on Saturday! In our last match against Cisterna Volley, I found the right rhythm, and I hope to be able to contribute again.” Paolo Porro, setter of Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza

Saturday’s second semifinal will feature the top two teams in the current SuperLega standings – Rana Verona and Sir Susa Scai Perugia – and will serve off at 18:00 (17:00).

Verona have never won the cup before. Last season, they reached the final for the first time in the club’s history. This season, they scored a straight-set home win in their quarterfinal against Allianz Milan to progress to the Final Four near Bologna. The team is running second in the SuperLega on 45 and 16-3.

Sir, on the other hand, have won Coppa Italia four times, most recently in 2024. They are the reigning club world and European champions, as well as the current SuperLega table leaders on 50 and 17-2. They are riding the wave of a 21-game winning streak in all competitions. To qualify for the cup semifinals, they dethroned last year’s winners Cucine Lube Civitanova in a four-set quarterfinal at home. Sir have reached the semifinals in every single season since 2018.

Verona and Sir went head to head in last year’s Coppa Italia semifinals as well, with Verona mounting a reverse sweep from two sets down. When they met in the SuperLega earlier this season in Perugia, they produced another five-set duel and it was once again Verona that celebrated a tie-breaker victory. The all-time head-to-head record between the two clubs, however, stands at 35-9 in favor of Sir.

“We're approaching this weekend with enthusiasm and a deep understanding of the importance of the event, knowing that the Final Four has a unique atmosphere and dynamic. Perugia is one of the strongest teams in the league, and facing them in the Del Monte Coppa Italia semifinal is a challenge that requires maximum commitment in every aspect. We'll have to be aggressive and ready to fight for every ball, staying united even in difficult moments and taking advantage of every opportunity the match presents to us.” Rok Mozic, outside hitter and captain of Rana Verona
“Being present at these competitions is never a given, so first and foremost, we're happy to be going to Bologna and taking part in this Final Four. We earned it on the court. We're going there to give it our all and win. We know we're facing a very tough opponent in the semifinals, one who's playing high-level volleyball. They're a very physical team that makes serving one of their best weapons. They have great individual players, who can make the difference at any moment, so we'll try to do our best, playing well as a team, creating the right mix to counter what they bring to the table. I expect a long match that will most likely be decided in a tiebreak.” Simone Giannelli, setter and captain of Sir Susa Scai Perugia
