Asseco Resovia Rzeszow will host defending PlusLiga champions and national cup and super cup laureates BOGDANKA LUK Lublin at the Podpromie hall on Sunday at 14:45 local time (13:45 UTC). The home team occupies fourth place in the current standings on 32 points and an 11-6 win-loss record, while BOGDANKA top the table on 35 and 12-5, separated from second-placed PGE Projekt Warsaw only on set ratios. When the two sides met in the Puchar Polski final earlier this month, the team from Lublin hammered out an emphatic shutout. When they met in Lublin during the first half of the PlusLiga regular season, Resovia surprised the champions with a 3-2 win. In the all-time PlusLiga head-to-head record, the club from Rzeszow leads by 7-2.

The 19th leg will open on Friday at 17:30 (16:30) with a match between PGE GiEK SKRA Belchatow and InPost ChKS Chelm at the Energia hall in Belchatow. SKRA stand on the edge of the playoff zone, in eighth place on 27 and 9-7, with a game in hand. The rookies from Chelm are in 11th place on 16 and 5-12. November’s first match between the two teams was won by the visitors from Belchatow in straight sets.

Also on Friday, at 20:00 (19:00), Barkom Kazhany Lviv will welcome ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle to Elblag. The Ukrainian team is under threat of relegation, standing second from the bottom, in 13th place on 13 and 4-13. ZAKSA are chasing the playoff spots, currently just below them, in ninth place on 25 and 8-9. The previous match between the two teams, played in Kedzierzyn-Kozle in November, produced a five-set rollercoaster with ZAKSA celebrating in the tie-breaker.

The last PlusLiga game for January will be played on Saturday. In a high-profile match-up, 2024-2025 regular season winners JSW Jastrzebski Wegiel Jastrzebie-Zdroj will entertain last year’s PlusLiga silver medalists and FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship bronze medalists Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie. Jastrzebski Wegiel are trying to hold on to the playoff spot they are currently holding, being seventh in the standings, on 28 and 10-7. Aluron are in third place on 33 and 11-5, with a game in hand. These two also delivered a hard-fought five-set battle in November, with Jastrzebski Wegiel bringing home a 3-2 road victory.

There will be two more matches on Sunday, after the one between Resovia and BOGDANKA. At 17:30 (16:30), Energa Trefl Gdansk and PGE Projekt Warsaw will lock horns at the Ergo Arena in Gdansk. Trefl stand in sixth place on 29 and 11-6, while Projekt are second on 35 and 12-5, with a slightly lower set ratio than the leaders from Lublin. November’s match between them in Warsaw was resolved in straight sets Projekt’s way.

Indykpol AZS Olsztyn will host Steam Hemarpol Politechnika Czestochowa at the Urania hall on Sunday evening. The match will serve off at 20:00 (19:00). Indykpol occupy fifth place on 31 and 11-5, with a game in hand. Also with a game in hand, Steam are trailing bottom, in 14th place on 11 and 3-13. November’s game in Czestochowa went 3-0 the way of the visitors from Olsztyn.

Trending Slepsk Malow Suwalki will entertain Cuprum Stilon Gorzow Wielkopolski in the last match of the leg, on Monday at 20:00 (19:00). With improved results recently, Slepsk Malow have placed themselves in the position of a team fighting for advancement to the quarterfinals, rather than one struggling to avoid relegation. They take 10th place on 21 and 6-11. Cuprum Stilon, however, still have to focus on their survival in the PlusLiga, as they stand third from the bottom, in 12th place on 15 and 4-13. The two teams put up a fierce battle in Gorzow Wielkopolski in November, at the end of which Slepsk Malow brought home a 3-2 win.
