Indykpol AZS Olsztyn beat Slepsk Malow Suwalki in one of the most interesting matches of the 17th leg in the Polish PlusLiga regular season and surpassed their opponents in the table. In each of the other seven matches of the leg, the teams placed higher in the standings celebrated the victories.

Indykpol AZS Olsztyn achieved a 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-18, 31-29) comeback win over Slepsk Malow Suwalki at home and overtook them into the ninth place in the current standings on 24 points and a 7-10 win-loss record, pushing the opponents down to 10th on 23 and 9-8. Indykpol’s outside hitter Nicolas Szerszen fired as many as six aces to lead his team with 21 points, while Slepsk’s opposite Bartosz Filipiak put away a match-high 24 points.
Table leaders Jastrzebski Wegiel Jastrzebie-Zdroj mastered a 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-23) away win over Asseco Resovia Rzeszow to improve to 44 and 14-3, while pushing Resovia down to eighth place on 28 and 8-9. Opposite Lukasz Kaczmarek led the way with 15 points.
PGE Projekt Warsaw followed suit and hammered out a 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 26-24) sweep of their home game against Nowak-Mosty MKS Bedzin, rising to 41 and 15-2 in second place. Nowak-Mosty are on top of the relegation zone, in 14th place on 12 and 3-14. Projekt’s German outside Tobias Brand was the top scorer of the match with 20 points, including two aces and three kill blocks.
Third-placed Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie dropped a set upon their visit to Barkom Kazhany Lviv, but gained the full three points to improve to 39 and 13-4. They defeated the Ukrainian team in a hard-fought 3-1 (28-26, 26-24, 23-25, 25-19) four-setter, led by outside Bartosz Kwolek with 18 points, and left their opponents second to last, in 15th place on 11 and 4-13.
BOGDANKA LUK Lublin kept their fourth place, now on 35 and 12-5, after an emphatic 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-22) shutout of their hosts Trefl Gdansk with an 18-point match high from star outside Wilfredo Leon. Trefl are in 11th place on 20 and 6-11.

Fifth-placed ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle got back at sixth-placed Steam Hemarpol Norwid Czestochowa for the five-set defeat at home in October and swept the away match by a narrow 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 28-26). Belgian outside Igor Grobelny led the winners with 13 points, while Czech opposite Patrik Indra topped the charts with 18 points for Norwid. With ZAKSA standing on 34 and 11-6 and Norwid on 29 and 10-7, the gap between them was widened to five points.
PGE GiEK SKRA Belchatow won on the road at Cuprum Stilon Gorzow Wielkopolski. Their middle blocker Michal Szalacha raised five kill blocks to lead the team to a 3-1 (19-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-23) victory with a total of 16 points. That win lifted SKRA to seventh place on 28 and 10-7. Brazilian opposite Chizoba Neves aced five times towards a match-high 18-point tally for Cuprum, who are placed 12th on 19 and 8-9.
In the closing game of the leg on Sunday evening, PSG Stal Nysa produced a 3-1 (25-16, 20-25, 25-15, 25-19) home win over bottom-placed GKS Katowice to improve to 15 and 4-13 in 13th place. GKS trail in 16th place on 6 and 2-15. With 21 points to his name, including four aces and three kill blocks, Stal’s outside Michal Gierzot topped the scorers’ chart of the match.
