In a delayed last match of the 15th leg, Indykpol AZS Olsztyn celebrated a 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-21, 25-22) win over PGE GiEK SKRA Belchatow to the delight of over four thousand fans in the stands at the Urania hall. They climbed a spot to fourth place in the current standings on 42 points and a 15-8 win-loss record and can no longer be pushed below the cut-off eighth place for the quarterfinals by the end of the regular season, thus joining the ranks of last season’s medalists Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, PGE Projekt Warsaw and BOGDANKA LUK Lublin, who had already booked their playoff tickets. SKRA, on the other hand, remained on the edge of the playoff zone, in eighth place on 33 and 11-10, still with a game in hand in comparison to their closest rivals.
Outside hitter Pawel Halaba fired four aces towards Indykpol’s victory and spiked at a 68% success rate to finish with 17 points and earn the Most Valuable Player (MVP) recognition. His German cross-court teammate Moritz Karlitzek contributed a match-high 20 points, including two from the serving line, while Canadian opposite Arthur Szwarc added another 18, including two kill blocks. His Brazilian counterpart Alan Souza was SKRA’s leading scorer with 19 points. His tally featured three aces and three stuffs.
