Olympic and world champion opposite Ekaterina Antropova was instrumental for Scandicci, which again couldn't count on Serbian star setter Maja Ognjenović due to an injury, scoring 17 points (16 kills, one ace) and earning the match's MVP award.
The world champions also got solid production from their middle blockers, with Linda Nwakalor registering 11 (five blocks, four kills, two aces) and German Camilla Weitzel adding another nine (eight kills, one block). Back on the court after missing the last four matches, American Olympic medalist outside hitter Avery Skinner scored eight points, all in kills.
"I'm very happy that the team managed to come together despite the situation with Maja," head coach Marco Gaspari said. "Bergamo are always very aggressive in their gym and playing here is not easy. It was also great to see Avery back, even if still limited. Now we'll have a couple of days to rest for the first time in two months, and the players deserve it."
