With Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano and Numia Vero Volley Milano both out of the fourth leg of the first round of the 2025-2026 Lega Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà after playing the Supercoppa Italiana Fineco on Saturday, Igor Gorgonzola Novara had a golden opportunity to improve their lead at the top of the standings this weekend.

One of the two undefeated teams in the Italian League, Novara managed to secure their fourth victory on Sunday, but left a point along the day after they needed all five sets to overcome Bergamo 3-2 (25-17, 19-25, 18-25, 25-21, 15-7) on the road.

The victory got Novara to 11 points at the top of the Lega Femminile standings – they have a three-point gap to Conegliano, Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76, Honda Cuneo Granda Volley and Savino Del Bene Scandicci.

With 20 and 18 points respectively, outside hitters Lina Alsmeier and Britt Herbots carried Novara’s offense in the five-set match. Bergamo’s American opposite Kendall Kipp led all scorers with 23.

“I think Bergamo played a great match, but we knew it was going to be difficult,” Novara’s middle blocker Amber Igiede reflected. “We played as a team, and our work showed at the end of the match as we kept pushing and managed to come back in a very tough match. I felt the team a little out of gas during the match, but we got our energy back near the end.”

Now ranked third, Chieri got to eight points after beating Eurotek Laica UYBA Busto Arsizio 3-0 (28-26, 25-17, 25-22) at home to claim their third victory in the season. Swiss outside hitter Laura Künzler, with 16 points, and Hungarian opposite Anett Németh, with 15, played major roles in Chieri’s triumph.

Cuneo, who are fourth with the same eight points, also got three on Sunday, defeating Wash4Green Monviso Volley 3-1 (29-27, 25-22, 14-25, 25-19) on the road. Opposite Binto Diop was their most productive player, with 17 points.

The fourth team with eight points, Scandicci survived a battle on Sunday, prevailing over Il Bisonte Firenze 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 18-25, 25-16, 15-9) at home. Olympic champion opposite Ekaterina Antropova registered 27 points, five more than American outside hitter Avery Skinner.

Macerata celebrate their first victory

Back in the Italian elite for the first time since 2022-2023, CBF Balducci HR Macerata claimed the first victory after their return, taking down Bartoccini-Mc Restauri Perugia 3-1 (25-22, 25-14, 20-25, 25-19) in front of their home fans.

Opposite Clara Decortes was their most productive player with 24 points, followed by Serbian outside hitter Isidora Kockarević, who registered 18.

“I’m really happy for the team because we needed this victory,” setter Asia Bonelli said. “We lost the last two matches in a very difficult way, and that always hurts, even if our confidence continued high. This victory gives us confidence and shows that when we play our game, we can cause problems for anyone. This was an important step in our journey.”

Omag-Mt San Giovanni In Marignano, who were promoted alongside Macerata, are yet to secure their first victory in the season after being swept (25-19, 25-23, 25-16) by Megabox Ondulati Del Savio Vallefoglia. Albanian opposite Erblira Bici scored 21 points for the winning side.
