Propelled by a spectacular return to action of star outside hitter Gabriela 'Gabi' Guimarães, reigning Italian champions Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano got one step closer to the 2025-2026 Lega Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà Scudetto Finals on Saturday.

The Panthers visited Igor Gorgonzola Novara in the second match of their best-of-five semifinal series and delivered a dominant performance to win 3-1 (25-12, 25-21, 25-17) at the Pala Igor, increasing their lead in the series to 2-0.

Conegliano, which had won the first match between the teams in the tie-breaker last weekend, are now just one win away from returning to the Finals for an eighth-straight season. They can confirm their qualification as soon as Tuesday, when the teams meet for the third time, in Villorba. For Novara, the only option to making it to the Finals now is beating the defending champions three straight times.

Sidelined since she left the first match of the quarterfinal series against Eurotek Laica UYBA Busto Arsizio, on March 1, Gabi reappeared in Conegliano's starting lineup against Novara and delivered a spectacular performance, topping all scorers with 16 points (all in kills) and earning the match's MVP award.

"I'm very happy with tonight's match because Novara are always very strong at home," Gabi said. "We did a very good job both offensively and defensively, and now we'll prepare to play even better in the next match. My teammates helped me a lot during my recovery, and we'll continue working together for the next matches."

Swedish star opposite Isabelle Haak came next, with 15 points (14 kills, one block), while Chinese star outside hitter Zhu Ting added another ten, with eight kills and two blocks.

Conegliano also did well defensively, limiting Novara's Russian star opposite Tatiana Tolok to only 12 points (11 kills, one block), her second-lowest mark in the season. She was still the team's most productive player.

"Unfortunately, we couldn't replicate our performance from the first match, but that was also because Conegliano showed their best volleyball today," middle blocker Sara Bonifacio reflected. "The sport has taught us that 2-0 doesn't mean it's over, and we won't give up. We'll try to win the next match and bring the series back to Novara."
