Defending champions Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano are just one step away from confirming the top spot for the 2025-2026 Lega Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà playoffs after earning their 22nd regular-season victory on Sunday.

The Panthers built on a dramatic first-set victory to complete an impressive sweep (43-41, 25-22, 25-20) of reigning world champions and Italian League second-place Savino Del Bene Scandicci on the road during the tenth leg of the second round of the regular season.

The three-set victory helped Conegliano get to 63 points (22 wins, one loss), increasing their lead over Scandicci, who have 56 (20 wins, three losses), to seven. With only three more regular-season matches yet to be played, they need to earn three more points to be definitely out of reach for their rivals.

Swedish star opposite Isabelle Haak had a tremendous performance in the Derby, topping all scorers with 27 points (25 kills, one block, one ace). Chinese outside hitter Zhu Ting added another 17 (14 kills, three blocks), while Olympic and world champion libero Monica De Gennaro earned the match's MVP award.

"It was a great match and the first set pretty much felt like two sets in one," De Gennaro said. "We never gave up because we know that it's not easy coming here and beating Scandicci in their stadium. We have three matches left, and we'll be ready for them."

Star opposite Ekaterina Antropova led Scandicci with 24 points (17 kills, four blocks, three aces). Besides her, American Olympic medalist outside hitter Avery Skinner was the only other player on the team to get to double digits in scoring, registering 11 points (ten kills, one block).

Novara beat Milano in five

The other Derby of the weekend also had drama, with Igor Gorgonzola Novara overcoming Numia Vero Volley Milano in the tie-breaker (25-18, 19-25, 25-20, 22-25, 16-14) to secure their sixth-straight victory over their rivals.

Japanese national team captain Mayu Ishikawa scored 17 (16 kills, one ace) and took home the MVP award.

The result brought the teams closer in the standings, as fifth-placed Novara now have 48 points and third-placed Milano have 53. Sitting between them is fourth-placed Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri '76, which on Sunday swept (25-19, 26-24, 27-25) Honda Cuneo Granda Volley and got to 51.

Vallefoglia clinch playoff spot

Also on Sunday, Megabox Ondulati Del Savio Vallefoglia became the sixth team guaranteed in the playoffs after their 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20) road win over CBF Balducci HR Macerata.

With the result, the team got to 37 points and can no longer be caught by Eurotek Laica UYBA Busto Arsizio, who are the first team outside the qualification zone and have 27 points following their 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-22) home loss to Il Bisonte Firenze.

On Saturday, two matches with a big impact on the battle to avoid relegation were held, and Omag-Mt San Giovanni In Marignano continued in great form, beating Bartoccini-Mc Restauri Perugia 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 25-20, 29-27) to earn their fourth-straight victory and create a six-point separation from the relegation zone, moving up to tenth place.

Wash4Green Monviso Volley had a chance to exit the relegation zone on Saturday, but they fell to Bergamo 3-1 (25-19, 18-25, 25-20, 25-19) and continue in 13th place with 17 points. They are above Perugia (12), but below Macerata (21) and Cuneo (20).
