Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano dropped points to Eurotek Laica UYBA Busto Arsizio for the second time in as many matches in the 2025-2026 Lega Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà, but, repeating what they had done in the season's opening weekend, triumphed in five sets to continue undefeated.

The Panthers hosted Busto in Villorba on Wednesday in an anticipated match from the first leg of the second round of the Italian League regular season, and, despite being strongly challenged by their opponents, came out on top, winning 3-2 (25-23, 28-30, 25-14, 25-27, 15-10).

With the two points obtained with the five-set victory, the reigning world champions went up to 34 (12 wins) and continue clear at the top of the standings. The gap to second-placed Savino Del Bene Scandicci, which also played on Wednesday and took all three points against Wash4Green Monviso Volley, however, went down from seven to six points as their rivals got to 28 (ten wins, two losses).

Limiting the playing time of opposite Isabelle Haak and outside hitter Gabriela 'Gabi' Guimarães, Conegliano saw outside hitters Fatoumatta Sillah and Nika Daalderop step up and lead the team to victory. While the young Slovenian led the team's offense with 19 points (16 kills, three blocks), the Dutch registered 18 (15 kills, two blocks, one ace) and took home the match's MVP award. Opposite Merit Adigwe had a strong shift off the bench, producing 16 points (nine kills, four aces, three blocks), two more than middle blocker Cristina Chirichella.

"Getting to play for this team means a lot, and my teammates helped me so much," said 21-year-old middle blocker Matilde Munarini, who made her Conegliano debut on Wednesday and scored seven points. "But winning the match was the most important thing today, and that's what matters."

Busto concentrated their offense in their pin hitters and had Mexican outside hitter Melanie Parra leading the team with 21 points (20 kills, one ace), followed by opposite Josephine Obossa, with 20 (17 kills, two aces, one block), and outside hitter Valeria Battista, with 19 (17 kills, one block, one ace).

Scandicci beat Monviso in four

Also needing to anticipate matches because of their participation at the upcoming FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship, Scandicci also played on Wednesday and got the job done, overcoming Monviso 3-1 (25-10, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22) to claim all three points.

Olympic and world champion opposite Ekaterina Antropova led their offense with an impressive 28 points (21 kills, four blocks, three aces). German national team captain and middle blocker Camilla Weitzel was their second-best scorer with ten (six kills, two blocks, two aces).

"We had to rotate some players today, and I think we had two matches in one," head coach Marco Gaspari reflected. "I trust all the players, but obviously, the ones who aren't playing very often may need some more time to get going. I thought the team relaxed a little bit after the first two sets, and they also made some changes that worked very well. We lost our confidence and got a little nervous. We need to learn to be more precise in the decisive moments, but getting all three points was very important today."

Leading Monviso were Belarusian outside hitter Hanna Davyskiba, who tallied 16 points (14 kills, one block, one ace), and middle blockers Anna Dodson and Amandha Sylves, who contributed 11 each.
