Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano continue to reign supreme in the Coppa Italia A1 Frecciarossa after winning the 48th edition of the tournament on Sunday and lifting the trophy for the eighth time in the last ten seasons.

The Panthers faced reigning world champions Savino Del Bene Scandicci in front of over 12,00 fans at the Inalpi Arena, in Turin, and were better in the decisive moments to triumph 3-0 (31-29, 26-24, 27-25) and extend their supremacy in the tournament.

The winners of the last seven editions of the Italian Cup, Conegliano, who also triumphed in 2016-2017, now have eight titles, two more than Bergamo and Ravenna, who they passed last season to become the most successful side in tournament history.

Sunday's victory also marks the first trophy lifted by the Panthers in the 2025-2026 season, ending an uncommonly long wait to their standards. Before winning the Coppa Italia, Conegliano had been upset in the finals of both the Supercoppa Italiana Fineco and the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship, when they lost to Scandicci.

The only player to be present in each of Conegliano's eight victories, star libero Monica De Gennaro also made history on Sunday, ending the tie with former teammate Robin De Kruijf and becoming the first player to win the tournament eight times.

Brazilian national team captain and star outside hitter Gabriela 'Gabi' Guimarães earned the tournament's MVP award after she led all scorers in the gold medal match with an impressive 22 points (19 kills, three blocks).

"I'm very happy and proud of the team," Gabi said. "The start of the season wasn't good for us, but we all fought to change things, and the club gave us incredible support during the difficult moments. The final was crazy, it was 3-0, but it was almost two hours long. There's a lot for us to fight for in the season, and I'm confident we can do it again."

Swedish star opposite Isabelle Haak also had a strong performance in the final, scoring 20 points (17 kills, three blocks) for the winners. Chinese outside hitter Zhu Ting added 13, with 12 kills and a block.

"It was a tough one, and we're so happy," Haak celebrated. "It was one of the craziest three-set matches ever. Scandicci played very well, and there was a lot of back-and-forth throughout. We've been working hard, it's been difficult, but I'm happy we're back. We struggled a little bit this season, so we'll keep working to find solutions and trying to improve every day."

Scandicci, who for the first time played in the Coppa Italia final, saw their 12-match winning streak in domestic tournaments come to an end on Sunday. The team counted on 17 points (all in kills) from American outside hitter Avery Skinner and another 16 (12 kills, three aces, one block) from star opposite Ekaterina Antropova in the final.

"It was just a very difficult day to play Conegliano," team captain Maja Ognjenović reflected. "All three sets were very tight, and we even had a nice lead near the end on set two, but you never know what's going to happen in volleyball. They played very well, especially in blocking and defense, and that made things very difficult for us. I'm sad because we were close, and the 3-0 score doesn't really show what the match was. It's always a bad feeling when you lose a final, but there were also good things in our game tonight, and we'll keep working on them for the rest of the season."

With 12,853 people on the stands, the Coppa Italia final set a new attendance record for women's volleyball in Italy.
