Bergamo came out on top in a dramatic five-set battle in the most exciting match of the 11th leg of the 2025-2026 Lega Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà regular season on Sunday and immediately earned the dividends of it, exiting the tournament's relegation zone.

One week after snapping a seven-match winless streak, the eight-time national champions won consecutive matches for the first time in the season, beating Honda Cuneo Granda Volley 3-2 (26-24, 25-22, 25-27, 19-25, 15-11) to give better hopes to their home fans.

The two points earned with the hard-fought victory went a long way for Bergamo, who started the weekend in 13th place and are now tenth after passing three opponents and leaving the relegation zone behind, with 11 points (three wins, eight losses). Cuneo, who have now lost their last five matches, continue in ninth place, now with 12 points (four wins, seven losses), and will need to wait at least another week to try and get back into the qualification zone for the playoffs.

Bergamo's American opposite Kendall Kipp had her second-most productive performance of the season on Sunday, tallying 28 points (25 kills, two blocks, one ace), and received the match's MVP award. Another American, outside hitter Jennifer Mosser, contributed 14 points, with 13 kills and one block.

"We made things harder than they needed to be and, for a moment, we thought it could not end well," Kipp said about the team's performance drop after the first two sets. "But fortunately, this time we responded better and managed to get back up and take the win."

On Cuneo's side of the net, Slovenian outside hitter Maša Pucelj shone the brightest with 22 points (17 kills, three blocks, two aces), followed by opposite Bintu Diop, who produced 19 (18 kills, one block).

The top five remain unchanged

There wasn't much movement near the top of the Italian League standings this weekend, with the five best-ranked teams not only winning their matches, but taking all three points. League leaders Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano were among the first to do it, taking Il Bisonte Firenze down in straight sets (25-16, 25-22, 25-20) on Saturday to continue undefeated and get to 37 points (13 wins).

Second-placed Savino Del Bene Scandicci played on Sunday and also got the job done in three sets, sweeping (25-12, 25-10, 25-16) Megabox Ondulati Del Savio Vallefoglia to get to 31 points (11 wins, two losses). They couldn't, however, increase their separation from third-placed Numia Vero Volley Milano, who also added three points with their 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 29-27) road win over Omag-Mt San Giovanni In Marignano on Sunday, getting to 26 (eight wins, four losses).

Elevated to fourth place last weekend, Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri '76 managed to keep their spot thanks to a 3-1 (24-26, 25-19, 25-17, 25-19) victory over Wash4Green Monviso Volley. They now have the same 23 points as fifth-placed Igor Gorgonzola Novvara, who swept (25-15, 25-22, 25-18) CBH Balducci HR Macerata on Saturday, but have a higher set ratio.

Eurotek Laica UYBA Busto Arsizio started the weekend in eighth place and ended it in sixth thanks to the three points earned with their 3-1 (25-21, 25-15, 18-25, 25-9) triumph over Bartoccini-MC Restauri Perugia on Sunday, which elevated their total to 16 (five wins, seven losses).
