Two of the three teams most significantly involved in the race for the last two spots in the 2025-2026 Lega Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà playoffs, Bergamo and Il Bisonte Firenze are set to meet in what should be the most consequential match of the weekend in Italy.

Ranked seventh and eighth in the Italian League standings, the teams, which will face each other on Sunday, at 17:00 local time (16:00 UTC), could both see the postseason much closer in case of a triumph in their encounters in the 12th and penultimate leg of the second round of the regular season.

Currently in seventh place, Bergamo took a big step towards the playoffs on Wednesday, when they defeated Honda Cuneo Granda Volley on the road and got to 31 points. With a four-point lead over both Firenze and ninth-placed Eurotek Laica UYBA Busto Arsizio, they will confirm their presence in the postseason with another victory on Sunday.

For Firenze, a triumph on the road against Bergamo won't be enough to seal the qualification, but it will, at the very least, keep them ahead of Busto for the 13th and decisive leg next week - as long as they win 3-0 or 3-1.

In the first round of the regular season, despite playing on the road, Bergamo dominated their opponents to a straight-set victory. Historically, however, Firenze have the edge, with five wins and four losses.

Trying to pass one of the two before the end of the regular season, Busto will watch their match on Sunday with great attention after facing third-placed Numia Vero Volley Milano on Saturday, at 20:30 (19:30 UTC). If they manage to upset their opponents on the road, they have a good chance of ending the week inside the qualification zone for the playoffs.

Still keeping chances of qualifying, tenth-placed Omag-Mt San Giovanni In Marignano and 11th-placed CBF Balducci HR Macerata both play on the road on Sunday, at 17:00 (16:00 TUC). San Giovanni, which have 23 points, face fifth-placed Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri '76, while Macerata, which have 21, play against second-placed Savino Del Bene Scandicci.

Perugia try to avoid relegation again

The battle against relegation should also have important chapters over the weekend, with as many as five teams still threatened by the risk of going down, including San Giovanni and Macerata.

The most critical situation is that of Bartoccini-Mc Restauri Perugia, which could have been relegated on Wednesday, but survived thanks to an unexpected victory over Busto.

With 15 points, they are still at great risk of going down, and they have a tough task ahead of them to continue alive, having to hand league leaders and defending champions Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano their second defeat of the season on the road on Sunday at 16:00 (15:00 UTC) and hope that two of Macerata (21 points), Wash4Green Monviso Volley (20) and Cuneo (20) don't earn points.

Their competitors will be on the road on Sunday, with Monviso visiting sixth-placed Megabox Ondulati Del Savio Vallefoglia at 17:00 (16:00 UTC) and Cuneo facing fourth-placed Igor Gorgonzola Novara one hour later.
