The second Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Futures event of the year has reached its semifinal stage. Two pairs each from Japan, Poland and host nation China, one from Germany and one from Sweden are still in contention for the Sanya Futures medals. The semifinals and the finals will be played on Sunday, March 8. The medal matches in the afternoon will be streamed live on the Beach Volleyball World YouTube channel.

The women’s gold medal showdown will serve off at 18:00 local time (10:00 UTC). One hour later, it will be the men’s turn to determine the Sanya Futures champions. The third-place playoffs, starting at 14:30 (06:30) and 15:30 (07:30), respectively, will complete the podiums with the bronze medalists.

Earlier on Sunday, the last competition day will get underway at 09:00 (01:00) with the first of two women’s all-Asian semifinals, both featuring clashes between Chinese and Japanese opponents. The first duel for a spot in the final and on the podium will feature a battle between the two top seeds in the main draw – bracket leaders Cao Shuting & Mushajiang Aheidan of China and second-seeded Miki Ishii & Mayu Kikuchi of Japan. Then, 10th-seeded Chinese wild cards Yu Tong & Qi Siyu will challenge ninth-seeded Harumi Sakai & Shion Tsubouchi of Japan, who made it to the main draw from Thursday’s qualifiers. That game will serve off at 10:00 (02:00).

An all-European lineup shaped up for the men’s semifinals. Top-seeded Szymon Beta & Artem Besarab of Poland, 2025 FIVB U21 Beach Volleyball World Championship silver medalists, yet to lose a set at the tournament, will take on 13th-seeded German qualifiers Niklas Held & Luis Kubo, who have been on a winning streak of five consecutive matches in Sanya, at 11:00 (03:00). An hour later, another Polish pair, third-seeded Aleksander Czachorowski & Jakub Krzeminski, will face the resistance of undefeated Swedes Theodor Grahn & Linus Isaksson, seeded 11th.
