The second Challenge event on the 2026 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour got underway in Tlaxcala on Wednesday. In the women’s competition, the qualifications took place with a single round of five matches played. Five teams – two from the United States and one each from Argentina, Brazil and Germany – earned their spot in the main draw. Another three – two from China and one from Romania – qualified without play on the merit of their ranking. The lineup of 32 teams for the main draw is now complete and they are ready to hit the court in Mexico on Thursday for the two legs of modified pool play.

The top three seeds in the qualification bracket – Romania’s Beata Vaida & Francesca Alupei and Cina’s Jiang Kaiyue & Dong Jie and Kadeliye Halaiti & Zhou Mingli – received byes and are set to play their first Tlaxcala matches directly in the main draw.

Germany’s Chenoa Christ & Sophia Neuss mastered a 2-0 (21-14, 21-10) sweep of their qualification match against Brazil’s Alessandra Rezende & Priscila Lima (Pity).

Another Brazilian team, Carolina Sallaberry & Giulia Gavio, broke the seeding and eliminated another German team, Mareet Maidhof & Tabea Schwarz, with a 2-0 (21-17, 21-16) upset to advance.

Kamila Tan & Katherine Reilly won the all-American clash with Rachael Kramer & Halle Hunt by 2-0 (21-15, 21-16).

Another US pair, Katie Lindstrom & Maria Belen Castillo, also qualified after a 2-0 (21-19, 21-14) upset of France’s Marine Kinna & Alex Merle. Lindstrom & Castillo became the lowest ranked team to make the main draw, while Kinna & Merle were the highest seeded duo knocked out in the qualifiers.

Agnes Michel Tosi & Brenda Churin of Argentina produced a 2-0 (21-18, 21-15) victory over Darby Dunn & Alison Mckay of Canada.
